General Information

This event is conducted by the West Australian Marathon Club Inc. as a community fun run. The aim of this event is to encourage women to participate in the sport of distance running by competing with their own gender. If any male feels compelled to participate, please be aware, men will not be eligible for prizes or medallions.

The proceeds from the event and any donations or sponsorship received will be donated to the Breast Cancer Care WA, who support Western Australians affected by breast cancer.

How To Enter

• Online Registrations: Enter online before 5.00pm Friday 1st June and receive a $5.00 discount on your entry fee. Race bibs will be mailed out for online entries received before 5.00pm Friday 22nd June. Online entries received after this time will require the race bib to be collected on race day or from the WAMC office on Saturday 30th June from 12noon to 4pm. HBF members who enter online will receive a 15% discount on their entry fee.. Online entries cease at 4.00pm Saturday 30th June 2012.

• NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY. This action has been taken in an endeavour to present all awards on the day.
• The organisers reserve the right to reject or cancel any entry at any time. The entrant must sign the waiver.
• FAMILY entry comprises parent(s) or guardian(s) and their immediate children (under 16 or attending secondary school) living at a common address. STUDENT concession is for bona fide secondary school students only.
• Team entries must have the same TEAM NAME on each entry form to be recognised as part of that team. Teams may have any number of runners (min. 3) however the winning teams are decided by the fastest total of the first three members of each team to finish.

Timing

All registered participants in the event will be recorded by an electronic timing system on crossing the finish line. A disposable timing chip is attached to the back of the race bib. Do not remove or peel the plastic timing device from the race bib. Attach the race bib to the front of the body only, by pinning the bib in the holes at the four corners. Please make sure that the race bib is kept flat and not folded or crumpled. The race bib is allocated to the person nominated on the entry form and is non-transferable to another person. The race bib must remain in its issued form.

LOSS OF THE RACE BIB OR IF THE BIB IS LEFT AT HOME ON THE DAY, WILL RESULT IN A $5.00 SURCHARGE FOR ISSUE OF ANOTHER RACE BIB.

Start

• All runners will assemble in the cordoned off start by 7.45am, await the official start, proceed on foot on the approved course and obey Police and Officials’ directions at all times. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. We do not have exclusive use of the dual-use paths, please be courteous to other users. Due to limited space on the paths, cyclists are discouraged from accompanying competitors.
• The 10km course follows the shared path past the Burswood Golf Course, over the Windan Bridge, north along Swan River to Maylands Golf Course, then turn and return on the same outward route to Burswood Water Sports Centre. The 5km course follows the same route but turns at Banks Reserve.
• There are no prizes for running prams and we request all that those pushing running prams not to be competitive, start from the rear and enjoy the experience. There is limited space on the shared paths and pushing through runners can lead to injuries – it is a running race not a pram race.
• Entrants must not take pets on the run. Skateboards and roller-skates / rollerblades or similar devices, are strictly forbidden due to the risk of injury to participants.
• To ensure your safety and that of everyone else in the race, the use of headphones or any musical device is strongly discouraged. Any use of headphones is a safety hazard since such use may compromise a participant’s ability to hear critical safety and/or directional instructions, especially instructions that may arise in an emergency situation.
• Results will be posted on the WAMC website www.wamc.org.au and printed copies will be available from the WAMC Office from 9th July.

ALL sponsorship money raised will go direct to the Breast Cancer Care WA Australia that was founded in June 2000 by Ros Worthington OAM, with the aim of improving the quality of life for women living with breast cancer.

Since its inception the Foundation has provided practical, financial and emotional support to hundreds of Western Australian women and their families who are faced with the challenges of life following a diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

The Foundation is very much in touch with the Western Australian community and its changing needs. This has resulted in the establishment of special interest groups to cater for the needs of various sections of the community including a young women’s support group, Indigenous support group and many other groups meeting throughout Perth city.

In the process, you will also be a winner. Collect sponsorship and for every $20 raised you will receive one ticket in the draw for a pair of Mizuno running shoes to the value of $250
