This
is where you can learn to be a Race Director.
Find out how a chute is set up.
How the DAG system works.
How to use a Chronomix.
How to mark a course.
Amaze your friends and loved ones.
And . . . perhaps more importantly, help the club out at a
run – even if you are not a Race Director the information you
can pick up from this course will stand you in good stead as a
helper.

Stick
around after the Event Management Seminar and put your new found
skills to use. Or
better yet have a go in the season’s first run.
Its only short so this should be a chance for a good
kilometre time. Run
from the club down to the
Graham
Farmer
Road
Bridge
, across,back towards
Perth
as far as the
East Perth
inlet then turn back towards the Railway/Road Bridge this time
crossing on the former.

Run
to Steves (while its still there) and back or turn after a measly
2.5km. Either
way, there is the chance to use the school pool after the event.
This is a good one to start the training year with and
shake off the Christmas and New Year doldrums.
If you are going to use the pool, make sure you shower
first.

Fast
flat out and back course for both the 16km and 5km.
Don’t be slack, give the longer one a go. You’ll
enjoy it I promise.

Three
laps with a twist - you and your fellow runners (one lap each)
have to guess your time. Closest to the guessed time wins.

Another
flat fast course all on footpaths (well there is a short stretch
on the road – twice for the 10km and once for the 5km).
The 10km goes West towards the yacht clubs before returning back
past the start/finish line (tempting to turn and just do 4km).
Its then up to the Uni Boat Clubs nearly to
Mounts Bay Road
before returning towards the start/finish area. Its
not over until you have again gone West and returned to run across
the grass to a well-earned finish and then one of Dave and
Stella’s breakfasts.

This
has what has to be the steepest hill in
Perth
as part of its delights. If you are one of those
runners that doesn’t look where he or she is going then you
might get lost. The course is marked by ribbon and its
easy to miss. We generally find the lost runners –
generally.

Despite
the first half being almost totally up hill this can be a fast
course. Maybe because the return journey is down hill.
Save a little for the run back. Another one of Dave
and Stella’s delightful breakfast occasions.

This
is what you need to be doing if you plan on doing the Marathon
(either Bunbury in May or
Perth
in July). Get some kms under your belt and enjoy the
company of other club members. Course is basically out
and back via the Perth Marathon route.

This is the first of the year’s Public Fun Runs.
Numbers were down last year because of the Relay for Life
clashing. If you get the chance, please promote
this event in your workplace and among your family and friends.
If we can boost the numbers we can increase our donation to
Telethon and also lift the image of the club in the general
community. After the
Marathon
, this is our most important event – please try and support it.
