Perth Running Festival & Melbourne Marathon Training Program 2026

Train for the 2026 Perth Running Festival Marathon or Half Marathon – and if you're heading to Melbourne, this program is suitable for the Melbourne Marathon too.

The West Australian Marathon Club’s 14-week training program is designed to help you arrive at race day feeling strong, confident and prepared. Whether you are training for your first event, returning to running, or looking to improve your performance, you will be supported every step of the way.

Led by WAMC Running Coach Sasha Johnson, the program combines coached group sessions with a structured weekly training plan to keep you motivated and accountable.

Program Overview

  • Program Length: 14 weeks
  • Start Date: Monday 13 July 2026
  • Goal Event: Perth Running Festival Marathon or Half Marathon – Sunday 11 October 2026
  • Also Suitable For: Melbourne Marathon and Half Marathon runners
  • Coach: Sasha Johnson

Who Is This Program For?

This program is suitable for:

  • Existing WAMC members, new members and non-members
  • Runners training for their first marathon or half marathon
  • Runners looking to improve their race performance
  • People returning to running after injury or time away
  • Anyone wanting the motivation and support of training with a group
  • Runners preparing for a specific event, including Perth or Melbourne

What’s Included

Your registration includes:

  • A 14-week structured training program designed by WAMC Running Coach Sasha Johnson
  • Two coached group sessions each week:
    • Wednesday evenings
    • Sunday mornings
  • An additional 2–3 self-directed training sessions each week to complete in your own time
  • Guidance on cross-training and strength work to support your running
  • The support and motivation of training alongside other runners

Wednesday Evening Session

  • 5:30pm
  • WAMC Clubrooms
  • 1 Camfield Drive, Burswood

Sunday Morning Session

  • 7:30am
  • First gazebo south of the WAMC Clubrooms
  • Camfield Drive, Burswood

Registration

Registrations are completed online via the WAMC website.

As part of registration, participants will complete:

  • A waiver
  • A questionnaire about running experience and current fitness level

Please note: Registration in the WAMC training program does not include entry into the Perth Running Festival or Melbourne Marathon. All participants must organise and pay for their own race entry separately.
